Actually, FSN North will be televising the card from Hinkley after the Wild game. The main is Matt Vanda-Phil Williams, and Bobo-Hilario is the co-main and I am told that both fights and either 1-2 more will also be airing. Just wanted to give you all the heads up that you will be able to see this bout on FSN North. Now the trick is to figure out how to get FSN North.

This is Wilton's biggest step up. Curious as to what you all feel about Bobo in this spot, although I realize you all probably don't know Hilario too well.

My feeling about Leon Bobo is that he is a very good fighter who may not have the heart to fight at the elite level. He's got speed, little if any power and mental instincts, but has quit against lesser fighters. Being stopped is one thing, but full-on quitting is a whole different story. I hope he does well...he seems like a good kid.

Thanks--very interesting to hear. With Wil, I just don't have an idea of where he is at. When he was coming up, he was knocking out everyone, a lot of times with killer body shots. He started then just looking for the monster shot, and it almost cost him a decision against Luis Bolano. That was a fight where he started fighting real cocky, and the hometown crowd starting booing him. He was taking a lot of shots and letting his defense go to land the big shot. He then fought a guy in Chicago on telefutura to a draw in a very tough bout to score.

He then injured his ankle and was out for a year. When he came back his first fight in the ring looked rusty, as one would imagine. His next fight he looked much better against Darrell Martin, who I have seen make others in Philly and NY look bad with his constant movement. After that he fought Jason Litzau's brother Al and beat him. I've always thought he was better than Al in the pros, and fully expected him to win that, so I am just not sure where he is at level wise, but Leon will be the biggest test of his career--no doubt.

I like Wil, and he seems to be a good kid as well. He'd be better served to use his jab, imo, but I don't think he will. He seeks to land the big punches, which hurt him some time as he doesn't always stay busy. I think guys have stolen rounds from him just by being busier. Also, after the ankle injury, he doesn't seem as explosive as he was coming up---maybe that has more to do with his competition or just rust, but I guess we will see.

Hope everyone watches---it's a big night for MN boxing with tv coverage after the Wild game.

Hey
Looks like Lamar Harris is fighting on that card as well. Both Leon and Lamar have tough opponents. Good luck to both.

That's correct. That fight will be televised as well. Once they air, the schedule will be Williams/Vanda, Bobo/Hilaro, Fort/Harris.

Ceresso Fort is a promising fighter here. He is patient, has some nice crack to him and has some very good defense. His hand speed is a bit slow, but it hasn't been a problem yet. I dont know much about Harris, but judging by his ledger I would guess that he is very tough and not afraid to fight anyone.

The show is sold out, so be sure to tune in--it should be a pretty wild scene. And two St. Louis guys in there.

I have seen Lamar fight on a few occasions. He has great skills - and decent power. His physique is quite intimidating. He has alot of muscle in a 160 pound frame.
The thing that bothers me about Lamar is the mental prep....Earlier in the year, he told me he was planning on taking a welterweight fight Question

I have also been told that he is his own manager and promoter 'Prince of Pain' promotions - and that he has been taking literally every fight that has been offered.
Shawn Porter (Manny Pac's main sparring partner for the Cotto fight) beat him down pretty good...and he's been stopped by guys that are not as gifted physically as he is.

Lamar's speed is blinding, but he tends to telegraph everything he throws.

His most entertaining fight was against a 50 year old from St. Joseph. The 50 year old dude came to fight and it was a slugfest for 6 rounds - and Lamar somehow managed to squeak out the SD, though had it been in St. Joe, he would not have been so lucky.

If Harris decides to control his destiny properly and fight at a normal pace, he could be very good. Maybe not world class, but he could finish with a decent record and possible make a few duckets in the mean time.

We wish him luck - Bobo too. It should be a good night for you all in MN.

From Minnesotaboxing.com:

HILARIO HEADS EXCITING UNDERCARD FRIDAY NIGHTBy Jesse Kelley
11-11-09

Friday nights sold out boxing card at the Grand Casino in Hinckley, MN is only days away. The much talked about catch weight showdown between Saint Paul's brawler Matt Vanda (41-9) and hammer fisted Minneapolis boxer Phil Williams will headline the card. But it is the exciting undercard that has MN boxing fans buzzing equally as much.

The main featured undercard bout pits IBA Americas super featherweight champ Wilton "The Pretty Warrior" Hilario (11-0-1) against St. Louis speedy southpaw Leon Bobo (18-3-1). Bobo, 31, could prove to be Hilario's toughest test to date as he brings with him stellar amateur credentials while facing tough competition throughout his pro career. Hilario of course welcomes the challenge and says that he will be ready for whatever bobo brings.
" He's tall and skinny, a pure boxer" said Hilario when asked what he knew about his opponent. "I know he is going to try to come in and outbox me. I plan on being ready for whatever he brings.
Hilario will be facing the second southpaw of his career when the two meet on Friday. Hilario defeated veteran southpaw Louis Bolano by way of split decision in April of 2007 in Minneapolis.
" Him being a southpaw is something different but it's all just boxing in the end. I will do what I always do. I am ready for whatever he does in the ring."
This will not be the first time Hilario has been featured on television but the humble fighter says that this time will be special as he will get to show what he can do with his hometown fans tuning in.
"This is what I need in my career. To get to show that I am a true warrior in the ring. It is going to be an exciting show. I couldn't be in better shape or more ready."

Looks like bad night for both of our local fighters - congrats to the MN guys...these are not pushover fights.

Leon Bobo lost a lopsided UD to Wilton Hilario and Lamar Harris lost a UD to Cessero Fort.
