PostSubject: BIG NEWS! Baue vs. Cannon November 20th!!!   Wed Oct 21, 2009 10:02 am

Brandon Baue will fight Robbie Cannon on November 20th at Lumiere Casino in St. Louis.

This bout will be for the WBC America's Welterweight Title.

Will be interesting to see Robbie at 147.

More to follow.

Very exciting news for the SEF crew, who really likes Baue and knows that Cannon has a good skill set.

This is not a good fight for Robbie. Buae packs a wallop, and Cannon has already been KO'd badly at lower weights. Baue wins this fight by violent knock out!

I disagree feros' ! Robbie is a pretty decent fighter who has been put up against some pretty stiff competition as of late..... Brandon is a pretty good fighter, but more like a Shawn Hammack, kinda a one trick pony, just not good enough to make it to the next level (that goes for PeaShooter too) I say Robbie gets back on the winning side and wins by unanimous decision!

I have to agree with Feroz.

Brandon says the bout is at 145 - that's 10 pounds heavier than Robbie usually fights, and he's a speed guy. Brandon has fought much bigger fighters...notably Jessie Davis, who probably weighed over 160 when they fought at Jr. Middle.

I am thinking big time stoppage by Baue if he's focused. Robbie NEEDS a win at this point in his career. He's not really the prospect folks once thought he was. However, he's fought some guys with good records, and he probably has the edge with experience.

I honestly never saw this fight coming. I would guess that Cannon called Baue out, but I'll have more info after I talk to Brandon in a little while.

Stay tuned....

Just got off the phone with Brandon.

Sounds like there was a plan in place from camp Cannon to draw Brandon into a fight...a little bird whispered into Baue's ear and told him that Robbie was walking around at 155.

Based on conversations I've had with Robbie and his trainer Joe Pounds, I think Robbie is a confident kid who sometimes gets in over his head with fights against guys who are either better or more experienced than he is.

I guess if you are a good pro boxer, it only makes sense to be confident, so I can't fault Robbie for wanting to fight better opponents, but not at the expense of being turded in the center of the ring by a bona-fide killer like Tyrese Hendrix.

Baue is 11-3 and Cannon is 12-4 so on paper (aside from the obvious weight differences) the fight makes sense...only if Cannon wants to remain at 145-147. Baue is a strong puncher at that weight, so it's a dangerous proposition.

As things unfold, SEF will be there. We are going to try to put him on an episode of SEF TV before his fight on the 20th.

Cannon is always calling out anyone and everyone who will listen. He avoided an anhialation from Danny Williams by getting knocked cold right before he was supposed to fight Willams, at 130 no less. Cannon should not be fighting at 145 in the first place. Baue by 3rd round KO cheers

And when you speak of violent KO's Robbie should not be the first guy you think of! Ive seen Baue snoring on the judges table on a few different occasions!

Haha. Yeah - Brandon got stopped a couple of times, but that's what you get when you are a power punching dude who takes chances. Most of Robbie's local fights have been duds because he is a slapper who is more amateur than pro. When was the last time he kocked someone cold?

Baue's KO against Chris Tyler was a fight of the year candidate. Both were hurt and down. The fight against Jessie Davis was a bad one for Brandon because Davis was so much bigger than him.

I'm sure Brandon would tell you that it's all relative. If I am going to put my money down and watch a fight, Baue is the dude who creates excitement.

Check out this one...

Here's the deal people. Baue was NEVER in shape for any fight he had!!! He was basically getting by with ability. He has dedicted himself to this sport and is only getting better!!!!! Since his new found drive he has KOed both his opponents. I have personally worked with or been in training with every top fighter in the LOU. Know this much..... Baue is now the best in the LOU and you will all see!!!! He has gotten twice as fast and his Power now is ungodly compared to the first time I worked mitts for him. Personally Cannon is a huge step backward but sometimes you gotta do what people want. Reminder Baue is only 22 and he has found now how training should be. Baue should be undeafeted in the Diamond fight he was robbed in k.c. and the tyler fight he had Tyler down four times. The fight should have been stopped!! He got winded ands caught. If both those fights went the way they should have the 154 fight with Jessie Davis would have neve took place. Prez feel free to come down to St. Chuck and watch a workout session and see. You know how to reach me and also Brandon. Look forward to seeing you. Also one more thing.... we happen to have three of the best fighters coming up through amateurs 11,13,15 yrs old and they R the Future!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

JD-

Two things...

I have heard from at least 10 people that Brandon was not good in training. I saw him get beaten by lesser fighters in the ams, but the pros are totally different.

I disagree that Cannon is a step back though. Robbie is far lighter - but has fought some stiff competition. His record is also pretty good (12-4). Beating Cannon would be a big push locally...and might land him a fight in Tunica where Robbie has been earning his money lately. For the guys who enjoy boxing in STL, Baue/Cannon is a really interesting bout.

Brandon is one of the more skilled fighters around, and if he's solid in training and dedicated, there are few - if any at 147 that can beat him. I would like to see him mix it up with Willie Nelson out of RT's stable, but we'll see.

The Keon Johnson KO was impressive - but the victory vs. Shad Howard was a borderline mercy killing. Brandon knows how I feel about that one. Howard didn't want to fight.

I'll get a hold of you. I want some footage of Brandon training. I'll be in touch bro.

Dave

Anybody know anything about this?

Lumiere's website says Brandon Baue is fighting Undefeated Chris Rudd out of Memphis on Nov 20th!

Baue has this. Yes Mickey, Baue has been stopped, but by bigger opponents. Cannon has been brutally put to sleep by featherweights. Cannon WILL NOT be able to hurt Baue. His only chance to pull off the 'W' is to outwork Brandon, and from what we're hearing about his training I doubt that is going to happen. Baue will win this fight.

Now as far as Baue being the best fighter in the area, that's more than a stretch. I like Baue quite a bit and find him very entertaining, but he's got several Bad losses to journeyman. St. Louis is home to two world champions. Devon Alexander and Corey Spinks. Let's keep things in perspective here. Still, Baue by KO's Cannon and continues to step up in competition.

I do not think Robbie can or will KO Baue.... Outwork possibly! But every fighter has a punchers chance at a KO!

I dont want people to get things twisted, I think Brandon is a great fighter, and i personally enjoy his fighting style over Robbie, he lays it all out on the table (maybe not the best idea in a couple fights) but he makes it entertaining to watch.

A lil story:

I was at Robbies fight with Bobo at the Family Arena. Most of the fights were pretty good, but mark my words "the worst local fight I have ever seen was between Robbie and Bobo" i walked out during that main event, and never cared who won! I blame Bobo for being a boring fighter, but cmon'!

I was sitting next to one of the area's better fighters during the Bobo fight. We both remarked that Robbie was outclassed. You can't blame Leon for not wanting to get hit.
He fought a perfect fight - though Joe Pounds will tell you that Robbie won because Leon ran the entire night.

Robbie even got knocked down - a call that the official missed. Robbie was bloody and Leon was pretty much unscathed. Bobo is a better fighter at super-featherweight, and the fact that he even hurt Robbie a little is insight into what a much bigger guy like Baue can (and will probably) do to Cannon. Trust me, on fight night Baue will look like Hulk Hogan to Cannon's matchstick frame...

Cannon might have some skills, but he will need to hurt Brandon in order to win.
